Well, I seem to be on a roll of posting things in reverse order as I was sure that I had already covered fingerlooping's basic moves. So yesterday I posted a re-shot video of fingerlooping's basic moves open, closed, and overtwist (linked). This is the companion blog post for those that want to freeze certain parts of the video, however, I'll only have photos of the open and closed moves. I'll have to figure out some better angles for the overtwist done in one step, in the mean time the overtwist can be done by repeating the closed move. I'll cover the overtwist-linking name change in its own post.

One of the things that you will notice is that the fingerlooping moves are essentially the handlooping Inside-Through moves C-E, just one finger at a time. As I talked about in the video, when grabbing a loop it doesn't matter if you grab the top or bottom part of the loop*, only that you grab from the inside for open and outside for closed.

Photos of grabbing an open move, black grabbing the top and white grabbing the bottom.

Photos of pulling the open move through the other loops, black grabbing the top and white grabbing the bottom.

Take note that the loop wraps around my pinkie from different directions but the result is the same. The loop maintains it's original orientation.

Now photos of the closed moves, black from grabbing the top and white from the bottom.

Photos pulling the closed move through the other loops, again black for grabbing the top and white for grabbing the bottom.

Again note that the loops go around my pinkie from different directions depending on which top/bottom is grabbed. If you look closely, notice that when grabbing upwards, open top or closed bottom, that the loop goes around my pinking in the same direction and the same is true when grabbing downwards.

*Side Note: When doing the overtwist move with repeated closed, make sure that you grab from the same top/bottom otherwise you'll untwist the first one and end up with an open move.
