So you want to get started braiding or have recently started and wondered how to best secure your braid without having to cut a ton of it away. The answer is a Lark's Head Knot. It's a type of knot that allows for quick attachment and release without the cutting while being reliable and secure. I like this method because there is no need to cut anything, the braid or the knot to free the braid once it’s complete. Yes, my blog is more about the historical aspect of Japanese loop braiding, and no there is no current evidence of its use, but for now, it’s a good compromise. I’ll do a future post about my case of why we should be using a lark’s head knot but for now, let’s get into how to make one.
